Task Management
Use the housekeeping board to see the cleaning status of every room, assign rooms to staff, and keep dirty rooms moving so the front desk always has clean rooms to give arriving guests.
To open it, select Housekeeping in the sidebar, under Stay. The page has two tabs: Room status, which opens first, and Maintenance, which is covered in Room inspections. You see the Maintenance tab only if your role has the Manage Maintenance Requests permission.
How the board works
Each room appears as a card in a column for its status:
- Dirty: the room needs cleaning. Rooms land here at check-out, and this is where your team's work starts.
- Clean: the room is cleaned and ready for the front desk to give to a guest.
- Inspected: a supervisor has checked the cleaned room. This column appears only when your property uses the inspection step. See Room inspections.
- Out of order: the room is off sale because of a maintenance or other problem.
Each column header shows how many rooms it holds.
Occupied rooms
Occupancy is not a column. A room with a guest checked in shows Occupied on its card and sits in the Clean column. If your property flags occupied rooms for service (Property Settings > Housekeeping), a room that is due for service moves to the Dirty column until someone marks it clean.
Reading a room card
Each card shows:
- Room type and floor on the top line, for example "Deluxe · Floor 3".
- Assigned staff member's photo at the top right, or an empty person icon when the room is unassigned.
- Room number, for example "Room 412".
- Arrival when a guest is due to arrive in that room today.
- Occupied when a guest is checked into the room.
- Assigned staff member's name and the note left for them, when there is one.
Dirty rooms are sorted for arrivals
In the Dirty column, rooms with a guest arriving today come first, then the rest by room number. The rooms a guest is waiting for are always at the top. The other columns are sorted by room number.
Filtering the board
Three filters sit at the top right of the page:
- Status: show one column only, or leave it on All Statuses.
- Floor: show one floor, or leave it on All Floors.
- Room type: show one room type, or leave it on All Types.
The filter options come from the rooms your property has. If nothing matches, the board shows "No rooms match filters".
Changing a room's status
You can change a room's status in two ways:
- Drag the card to another column.
- Select the card to open the room's dialog, then select a status under Status.
The change saves at once. Every change is logged with who made it and when, and your team gets a notification. The front desk sees the new status straight away, so marking a room Clean is what releases it for an arrival.
- Clean: the room is cleaned and ready. Marking a room clean also clears its assigned staff member and note.
- Dirty: the room goes back into the cleaning queue, for example after a failed check.
- Out of order: the room comes off sale. Use it for problems housekeeping cannot fix.
- Inspected (when the inspection step is on): a supervisor confirms a clean, empty room. See Room inspections.
An occupied room can only be marked Clean, which records a stayover clean and keeps the room occupied. To set any other status, check the guest out first.
Out of order takes a room off sale
An out of order room cannot be given to a guest, even with an override at check-in, until someone sets it back to Dirty or Clean. If a guest is assigned to that room, the front desk needs to move them. See Room management.
Assigning a room to a staff member
You assign rooms one at a time from the room's dialog:
- Select the room's card. The dialog shows the room number, room type and floor.
- Under Assigned to, choose a staff member. The list shows everyone at the property whose role can view housekeeping. Choose Unassigned to clear the assignment.
- Optionally add a note in Notes for this cleaning, for example "Guest asked for extra towels" or "Late check-out, start after 1 PM".
- Select Save assignment. The staff member and your note now appear on the card.
Assignments clear when a room is marked clean
When a room is marked Clean, Veridien removes the assigned staff member and the note, because the work is done. If the room is marked dirty again, assign it again.
A typical morning on the board
- Overnight and early check-outs have set their rooms to Dirty. Rooms with guests arriving today show Arrival and sit at the top of the Dirty column.
- The supervisor filters by Floor, selects each dirty room and assigns it to the staff member working that floor, with a note for any special request.
- Staff clean their assigned rooms. As each room is checked, the supervisor drags it to Clean (or selects Clean in its dialog). The assignment clears and the front desk sees that the room is ready.
- If a room has a fault, the supervisor logs it on the Maintenance tab and, for serious problems, takes the room out of service. See Room inspections.
By the time guests arrive, their rooms have been cleaned first, and the front desk has clean rooms ready for check-in.
