Connect Booking.com
Use this guide to start selling your rooms on Booking.com through Veridien. Connecting has two halves: a one-time setup in the Booking.com extranet, where you let Channex (the channel manager service Veridien connects through) manage your rooms and rates, and the connect-and-map flow inside Veridien. This page is the detailed reference for each step of the launch checklist.
Follow the checklist
Open Channels from the Sell group in the sidebar and select Booking.com. The Launch Booking.com checklist tracks your progress, and each step's View full guide link opens this page. Steps Veridien can detect (linked, connected, active) tick off on their own; for the two extranet steps, select Mark as done once you have finished them.
The checklist's first step, Link your property, links your property to Channex. See Channels setup.
1. Request Channex as your connectivity provider
This happens in the Booking.com extranet, not in Veridien.
- Sign in at admin.booking.com.
- Copy the property ID shown next to the property name; you need it later.
- Go to Account, then Connectivity Provider.
- Select Search, type Channex (the whole word), and select Channex.io from the list.
- On the summary box, select Next.
Type the whole word
The provider search only finds Channex if you type the complete word "Channex". A partial search returns nothing.
Best done by the property
Booking.com protects this screen with two-step verification (a passcode sent to the property's phone), so it is usually quickest for the property owner to do this step.
2. Accept the XML service agreement
- Tick the checkbox to agree to the terms and conditions.
- Select Yes, I accept.
Nothing else on this form needs to be filled in. The request then waits until it is accepted on the provider side.
You can map before acceptance
You can connect and map Booking.com in Veridien straight away, while the extranet request is still waiting. You just cannot activate (go live) until the request has been accepted.
Check your derived rates
Once a channel manager is connected to Booking.com, review the settings of all derived rates in the extranet: Booking.com may change minimum stay, closures and similar restrictions on its own. Confirm they are still correct.
3. Connect Booking.com in Veridien
In the checklist, select Connect & map under Connect & map in Veridien. The connection wizard opens on its Settings step.
- Enter your Booking.com Hotel ID: the property ID you copied in step 1.
- Select Test Connection. A Connection verified message means Veridien can reach the property and you can move on to mapping. If the test fails, the extranet request from step 1 has not granted access yet. Wait a few minutes and try again.
4. Map your rooms and rate plans
Mapping tells Veridien which of your room types and rate plans each Booking.com room and rate sells. The wizard lists the rooms and rates on Booking.com, and next to each you choose Your Room Type or Your Rate Plan.
- Map everything. Every Booking.com room and every rate that is not Read-only must be mapped before you can continue. An unmapped rate causes booking errors later. If a room or rate is no longer needed, ask the property to delete it in the extranet rather than leaving it unmapped.
- Match by ID when names repeat. Booking.com shows its default room-type names (custom extranet names are not visible), so each room shows its Room ID after the name. Properties such as apartments can have several rooms with the same name; use the ID to map the right one.
- Map in your base currency. Only rate plans of the mapped room type in the channel's currency are offered, and only base-currency rate plans can be sold on channels.
Occupancy-based mapping
When the property uses occupancy-based or per-person pricing on Booking.com, each rate is sold at its own price for every number of guests it lists, and the Guests column shows those numbers (for example 1 to 6). Choosing a rate plan for the rate maps every one of them, and each gets its own price from the rate plan:
- The plan's nightly rate covers the room type's base occupancy.
- Each guest above it adds the plan's Extra guest per night charge. Booking.com sends a guest count without ages, so every guest is priced as an adult.
- One guest gets the Single occupancy discount.
- Seasonal intervals override all three, as they do for a guest who books directly.
Booking.com takes restrictions (minimum stay, stop sell and similar) from one primary guest count per rate. Veridien makes the largest one primary.
When mapping is complete, select Next to review it on the Confirm step, then select Connect.
Derived rate plans
Derived rates on Booking.com should not appear as mappable in Veridien. Like promotions, they follow their parent rate, and their bookings come back correctly without mapping. Occasionally an older derived rate still shows as mappable. You have two options:
- Map it anyway. If you leave it unmapped, its reservations arrive unmapped and cause errors.
- Recreate it. Ask the property to delete the derived rate in Booking.com and create it again. New derived rates do not show as mappable and work as expected.
5. Activate the connection
Once Booking.com has accepted the connectivity request, select Activate under Activate the connection to take the channel live. Veridien sends your current availability and rates, imports Booking.com's future reservations, and from then on new Booking.com reservations arrive in your reservation list.
6. Pull future reservations (optional)
Activating already imports existing future reservations. To import them again, for example after setting up a property that was already selling on Booking.com, select Pull reservations under Pull future reservations. This step is available once the channel is live.
Imported reservations are partial
Importing future reservations does not change availability in Veridien, and imported reservations lack some details a live one includes: taxes and fees, guest contact details (email, address, phone), commission details and card details.
