Dashboard
The dashboard is the page you land on when you open a property in Veridien. It greets you by name and shows a grid of widgets that summarize how the property is doing right now. You choose which widgets appear, in what order, and how wide each one is.
The widgets need the View Front Desk Dashboard permission (frontDesk.view). Without it, you see the greeting and a note asking you to contact your administrator instead of the widgets.
The dashboard header
The header sits above the widgets and stays available while you edit the layout. It contains:
- Greeting: a greeting with your name. It changes with the time of day.
- Finish setup: a progress button that appears while the property is still being set up, showing how many steps are done (for example,
4/7). Select it to open the setup checklist. See Finishing property setup. - Customize and Done: turn edit mode on and off so you can rearrange the dashboard. See Customizing your dashboard.
- New Reservation: a shortcut to create a reservation, shown only if you can create reservations. It opens the form described in Creating reservations.
Available widgets
Every widget reads live data for the property you are in. Some appear only when your role or plan allows them.
- Overview: the day's arrivals and departures with quick check-in and check-out, the date and the property's local time, and counts of arrivals, departures, in-house guests and occupancy. See Today at a glance.
- Occupancy, ADR and RevPAR: three headline metrics, each with its own trend chart. See The three headline metrics.
- Revenue by source: this month's revenue split by source (Direct, OTA or Corporate). Needs the Expenses module and View Expenses & Profit.
- Revenue by department: this month's revenue split by business line, such as rooms, outlets, commission and third-party revenue. Needs View Financial Reports.
- Expenses by category: this month's operating expenses, by category. Needs the Expenses module and View Expenses & Profit.
- Revenue: property revenue for the week, the month or the year, with its change.
- Reservations by status: this month's reservations grouped by status.
- Revenue vs Expenses: this month's revenue against expenses, with net profit. Needs the Expenses module and View Expenses & Profit.
- Guests by country: where your guests come from, on a globe with the countries ranked beside it. Needs View Guest Profiles.
Note
The Occupancy, ADR and RevPAR widgets and the Reports page use the same underlying figures. The widgets are a quick view on your home page; Reports is where you set any date range, filter and export.
Understanding the three headline metrics
Select the information button on a metric to read how it is calculated:
- Occupancy: the share of sellable rooms that are occupied. It is occupied rooms divided by total sellable rooms for the selected period, including future reservations.
- ADR (Average Daily Rate): earned room revenue divided by sold room nights on completed service dates. Confirmed future reservations are not included.
- RevPAR (Revenue Per Available Room): earned room revenue divided by all sellable room nights on completed service dates, whether occupied or empty.
Each metric shows its value and how it changed over the period. Use Week, Month and Year at the foot of the card to change the period. Point at the chart, or touch it, to read the value on any day.
Customizing your dashboard
The layout is yours to arrange. Changes save automatically, so there is no Save button.
- Select Customize in the header. The grid enters edit mode and each widget gains a control bar.
- Reorder widgets by dragging a widget's handle to a new position.
- Resize a widget with its width button, which cycles through a third (⅓), half (½) and full width (▦). The symbol shows the width you get next.
- Remove a widget with its X button. A removed widget is not deleted; it moves to Add widget so you can bring it back later.
- Add a widget with Add widget, choosing from the widgets not on your dashboard. If every widget is already placed, the list says so.
- Select Done when you are finished.
To go back to the standard arrangement, select Reset to default while customizing. The default dashboard shows every widget: Overview, then Occupancy, ADR and RevPAR side by side, then the revenue, expense and reservation widgets, and Guests by country.
Note
Your layout is saved to your own account, not the whole property. Other staff can arrange their dashboards differently without affecting yours.
Finishing property setup
On a new property, the header shows Finish setup with a progress ring. Select it to open a checklist of the steps that get the property ready to take reservations. Each step links to the page where you complete it:
- Property created
- Add your rooms: see Room management.
- Set up taxes: see Taxes and charges.
- Invite a team member: see Users and roles.
- Connect your channel manager: see Channels setup.
- Customize your branding: see Property settings.
- Take your first reservation: see Creating reservations.
Steps are checked off automatically as you complete them, and a member who can edit property settings can also tick a step by hand. Once every step is done, Finish setup disappears.
