Today at a glance

Today at a glance

The dashboard is the first page you see after choosing a property, and it answers the question every shift starts with: what is happening at the property right now, and what happens next? It brings the day's arrivals, departures, in-house guests, occupancy and performance figures into one view, so you do not have to open separate pages.

Note

The dashboard shows its widgets only if you have the View Front Desk Dashboard permission (frontDesk.view). If you see "You don't have front desk permissions" instead, ask an administrator to change your role. See Users and roles.

A customizable layout

The dashboard is built from widgets, such as Overview, the Occupancy, ADR and RevPAR cards, and revenue charts. Select Customize to add, remove, resize or reorder them. Your layout is saved to your account, so you see your own arrangement each time you sign in. See Customizing your dashboard.

If you have never customized it, the default layout already includes every widget, starting with the ones described below.

The Overview widget

Overview is the working center of the dashboard. Its header shows the day you are looking at and, for today, the property's local time. Below it, four counts summarize the day: Arrivals, Departures, In-house guests and Occupancy. Then the Arrivals and Departures lists sit side by side, both following one date control.

Reading the lists

  • Arrivals lists guests due to check in on the chosen day.
  • Departures lists guests due to check out on the chosen day.

Each row shows the guest's name, their room (or the room type if no room is assigned yet), the party size (for example, "2 adults · 1 child") and what they owe: Paid, an amount due, or an amount overdue once it is past its due date. You can see at a glance who still owes before they leave.

Each row also shows where the guest is:

  • An arrival that is still confirmed shows a Check in button. Once checked in, it shows Checked in.
  • A departure that is still in-house shows a Check out button. Once checked out, it shows Departed.

Changing the day

The date control on the right of the header changes both lists at once:

  • Use the left and right arrows to step back or forward one day.
  • Select the date to open a calendar and jump to any day.
  • When you are not on today, select Today to come back.

"Today" is the property's current date in its own time zone, not your browser's, so it stays correct wherever you work from.

Acting on a row

  • Select a guest row to open that reservation.
  • Select Check in on a confirmed arrival to check the guest in without leaving the dashboard. If the reservation has no room yet, the check-in dialog opens so you can pick one. If the room is not ready, a message offers Check in anyway. See Check-in.
  • Select Check out on a departure to check the guest out. If the folio is not settled, a message offers Check out anyway; to take a payment first, open the folio. See Check-out.

The widget updates as you work: when you check a guest in or out, the lists and counts refresh.

Performance widgets

Beyond arrivals and departures, the dashboard shows how full and how productive the property is.

Occupancy

The Occupancy count in Overview compares the rooms occupied on the chosen day with the rooms you can sell. Rooms marked Out of order are left out of the room total, so the percentage reflects what you can actually sell rather than the raw room count.

Occupancy, ADR and RevPAR cards

These cards show three core hotel metrics, each with a trend over a Week, Month or Year:

  • Occupancy: occupied rooms as a share of sellable rooms, including future reservations.
  • ADR (Average Daily Rate): earned room revenue divided by sold room nights on completed service dates.
  • RevPAR (Revenue Per Available Room): earned room revenue divided by all sellable room nights on completed service dates.

ADR, RevPAR and revenue come from charges actually posted to folios, so they reflect billed amounts, not estimates.

Revenue

Other widgets break revenue down: Revenue by source by source (Direct, OTA, Corporate) and Revenue by department by business line, such as rooms and outlets. See Available widgets.

Using the dashboard during your shift

The dashboard is most useful when you check it throughout the shift, not just once.

Start of shift. Open the dashboard and compare the number of arrivals with the rooms ready for them on the Housekeeping page. If arrivals outnumber clean rooms, coordinate with housekeeping early. Note any departures still showing Check out from the previous shift.

During the shift. Return between tasks. Watch for arrivals waiting on rooms (departures are not being turned around fast enough), and for occupancy nearing capacity (there is less room for walk-ins). As guests check out, confirm on the Housekeeping page that their rooms go from Dirty to Clean.

End of shift. Any departures still showing Check out may be late check-outs to flag for the next shift. Remaining arrivals may be late arrivals or no-shows.

Common mistakes

Starting check-ins without reading the dashboard. You miss problems as they build, such as a room shortage, until a guest is at the desk with nowhere to go.

Forgetting rooms that are out of order. They reduce sellable rooms every night. Review them daily so a resolved issue does not keep a room offline. See Room management.

Not acting on what the dashboard shows. The numbers help only if someone responds to them. When you see too many arrivals for too few clean rooms, or a cluster of late departures, tell housekeeping and the incoming shift.
