Night Audit

Night Audit

The night audit closes each business day so the day's charges and payments are complete and balanced before the next day starts. Veridien runs part of it for you automatically; the checks below cover the rest.

The automatic night audit

After midnight in your property's time zone, Veridien closes the day that just ended. For each property it:

  • Records past nights' charges in your accounts, for every folio charge dated before the new day.
  • Applies held deposits to the folios of guests who are in-house, where a balance is owed.
  • Saves a daily summary of the day's figures.

You do not start it, and there is no button to run it. To see how far it has run, open Accounts under Money in the sidebar. The overview shows Night audit through [date], or No night audit yet if none has run.

End-of-day checks

Run these checks at the close of business each day.

1. Reconcile payments

Open the Payments page (search for "Payments" to find it) and use Filters to set Date range to today. Compare the totals with your cash drawer and your card terminal's settlement. If you are closing your own shift, also filter by your name under staff. Every payment shows its method, reference and the staff member who recorded it, so you can trace any difference to one transaction. See Payments and settlements.

2. Review open folios

Open Folios under Money in the sidebar, select Filters, and set the status to Open. Check that each in-house guest's folio shows the charges that should have posted today (room, taxes and any services). Add any missing services or custom charges before you close. See Folios.

3. Confirm departures are settled

Check that every guest who left today has a folio that is Settled and, where your property needs one, a final invoice. See Check-out and Invoicing.

4. Export for the record

On the Folios and Payments pages, select Export, then Export CSV, to save a snapshot of the day for your accounting handover.

What to look for

  • Unsettled folios: folios that should be settled but still show a balance.
  • Unmatched payments: payments you cannot match to a drawer or terminal total.
  • Missing invoices: guests who left without a final invoice, where your property needs one.

Resolve these each night. Problems are much harder to fix once several days have passed.
